Consumer Commentary was founded by Tyson Heyn, APR, who has reviewed consumer products for major nationwide magazines and independently since the late 1980s.  Heyn launched Consumer Commentary in 2004 in response to the growing need of manufacturers and distributors serving diverse markets to obtain objective and unbiased reviews of their products.

 

Our Mission

Given the overall 'implosion' of specialty news and trade outlets since the financial hey-day of the late 1990s, it has become increasingly difficult to secure thoughtful product analyses and reviews by the media.

 

Consumer Commentary addresses this problem uniquely: we open testing to a wide range of consumer products and ask all participants to contribute to covering our costs at a small, fixed, flat rate.  We can't be "bought" or influenced by manufacturers since all participating organizations pay the same, low, nominal fee, and consumers benefit by gaining access to in-depth product analysis in an environment free of advertisements and 100% without charge.  No other diversified testing organization can make this claim.

Our Scope and Staff

Today, nearly 200 reviews are scheduled to be completed during 2005.  By utilizing our seasoned and professional judging staff who review 2,500+ other materials annually for Consumer Commentary affiliates, we have a strong foundation for developing far-reaching and insightful commentary on the products we review.
